Raúl Castro Presides Over Main Event on July 26HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 26 (acn) Cuban President Raul Castro presided over the National Central Ceremony for the 57 anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes Garrisons, held in central Villa Clara province.
The commemoration was held at Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara Square in Santa Clara city, capital of the province that won the honor to host this activity for the significant results achieved in various spheres of the political, economic and social development.
Cuban First Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura also attended the celebration along other members of the Politburo of the Cuban Communist Party. Attackers to the fortresses in 1953, Granma yacht expedition members and other combatants of the Revolution were also present.
A broad representation of vice presidents and ministers of theBolivarian Republic of Venezuela participated in the festivities as well. Other guests were the relatives of the Five Cuban antiterrorist fighters, unjustly imprisoned in the United States and members of Pastors for Peace Caravan.
On arrival, Raúl was hailed by the huge crowd with shouts of cheers and slogans which expressed their unwavering commitment to the Revolution, socialism and the historical leader Fidel Castro.
Can't find the BBC article now because I forgot to post it on Monday, but apparently Raúl didn't speak at the National Rebellion Day rally. That is a good thing that Raúl is acting more as a transitional figure. I forget which person was the main speaker at the event.
